MetaTrader alternatives: 3 options to consider
The online trading landscape continues to evolve rapidly. With MetaTrader facing new challenges and competition, traders are on the lookout for more advanced and reliable alternatives. This guide introduces three top trading platforms that are setting new standards in the industry.
Skilling Trader - the smart alternative to MetaTrader.
What is MetaTrader, MT4 and MT5?
Over the years, the international standard for online Forex has undoubtedly been MetaTrader. Trading with MetaTrader 4 (MT4) or MetaTrader 5 (MT5) platforms allows traders to create, test and implement their own algorithms using Expert Advisors and technical indicators. The availability of automatic trading is one of the aspects that has contributed to MT4's tremendous success as a Forex trading platform.
Beginners should bear in mind that MT4 is not a Forex broker, but a third-party trading platform that links to a broker. Therefore, in the event that MT4 and MT5 are completely prohibited, across Android as well as Apple devices, for Forex traders, it seems like the perfect time to look at MT4 substitutes.
Why has Apple banned MT4 and MT5 trading apps?
After nearly two decades of success with traders and FX brokers, MetaTrader4 and MetaTrader5 were removed from the Apple (AAPL) iOS Store earlier this year on the 23rd of September 2022 claiming the app did not comply with its guidelines. Although the reasons behind the move have not been confirmed, it is believed that the removal of the platforms could be due to several scams reportedly implemented through these platforms.
The MetaTrader iOS MT4 and MT5 applications have been removed from the Apple Store, although the PC version of the trading platform is still available to download, and the Google Play version is untouched.
What does this mean moving forward?
Although iPhone and iPad users who have already downloaded the trading platforms can continue to use them, they will be unable to access updates, upgrades or fixes.
However, the MetaTrader ban doesn’t necessarily need to be bad news. Brokers remain hopeful that MetaQuotes will be looking at ways to resolve the situation, and for now, it provides an opportunity for brokers to take a fresh look at the latest technology solutions available in the market.
Skilling offers the web version of the platforms, and as a trusted Scandinavian founded broker, Skilling offers its own proprietary trading platforms as well, giving you the option to choose an alternative platform that can provide cutting-edge trading software and features.
Before selecting a trading platform, however, it is advised that traders conduct their own research and use their best judgement, as there is no "one size fits all" approach when it comes to trading.
